We get it. A lot of people are anxious for their dental appointments. For others, they have a severe gag reflex. Sometimes you just need a little bit of medication to help you relax during dental procedures.
There are several different sedation methods that you can choose from:
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) – You inhale a gas through a mask that makes you relax. It quickly wears off once the procedure is done and works especially well with children.
Oral Sedation – Your doctor will prescribe a medication to take an hour prior to your procedure. The pill will make you feel drowsy and sometimes even fall asleep during treatment.
IV Sedation – The sedative is administered through a vein so it works very quickly. This method allows the doctor to continually adjust the level of sedation to help you achieve a relaxed state. With this method, you will likely have no memory of treatment.
